How to Use the Cubic Feet Calculator

Enter the length, width, and height or depth of the space or object. Select the unit used for all three measurements, then select Calculate Cubic Feet. The calculator multiplies the three dimensions and converts the volume into cubic feet and other useful units.

Length

Length is the longest horizontal measurement of the room, box, container, or material area.

Width

Width is the horizontal measurement from one side to the other. Use the same measurement unit chosen in the form.

Height / Depth

Height is the vertical measurement of a room, box, or container. For soil, mulch, gravel, or another material, enter the material depth here.

Measurement Unit

Select feet, inches, yards, meters, or centimeters. All three dimensions must use the selected unit. Convert any different measurements before entering them.

Understanding the Results

Cubic feet is the main volume result. The formula is length × width × height after all measurements are converted to feet.

Cubic yards is useful for bulk materials such as soil, mulch, gravel, sand, and concrete. One cubic yard equals 27 cubic feet.

Cubic meters shows the same volume in the metric system. One cubic foot is approximately 0.0283168 cubic meters.

Cubic inches is useful for small packages and containers. One cubic foot equals 1,728 cubic inches.
