How to use the Cubic Yard Calculator

Select the project shape and enter its measurements. For a rectangle, use length and width; for a circle, use diameter; and for a triangle, use base and height. Choose inches, feet, or yards beside each measurement. Depth is the required thickness of the material. Extra material adds a percentage for waste, settling, uneven ground, and measurement differences. Weight per cubic yard is the supplier's estimated material density, while price per cubic yard is the supplier's unit price.

The exact volume is the calculated amount before extra material. Recommended volume includes the selected allowance. Cubic feet shows the same volume in feet. Estimated weight multiplies the recommended cubic yards by the entered weight per cubic yard, and estimated cost multiplies the recommended volume by the entered price. These results are planning estimates, so confirm density, price, delivery limits, and order quantity with your supplier.
